Mission Statement
The mission of the City Clerk Department is to be a steward and protector of democratic processes, such as elections, access to official records, and to comply with federal, state and local statutes. The department supports the City Council in its goals of innovation, transparency and fairness while promoting community participation and awareness.
The City Clerk is appointed by the City Council. The
City Clerk is responsible for facilitating the business
proceedings of the City Council, and fulfilling legal
requirements as set forth in the City Charter, City
Codes and State law. The Office of the City Clerk conducts
all City elections and administers campaign and financial
disclosure laws.

Election 2013
The filing period for nomination papers and candidate statements is July 15 to August 9, 2013. The period gets extended to August 14, 2013 if an incumbent fails to file.
The nomination papers are to be obtained from the City Clerk and an appointment is recommended.

City Council Members, are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by the above elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk. Other positions such as City Manager, City Attorney, City Treasurer, and other public officials, who manage public investments, also file such statements with the City Clerk, and the public may view or obtain copies of such records.
