Archived News Release from 2003 For Immediate Release Broadcast of Redwood City Council Meetings Moves to Comcast Channel 27Redwood City, CA - August 27, 2003 - Redwood City cable television viewers who subscribe to Comcast (formerly AT&T) will notice a small but significant change in channels - effective immediately, the cable television broadcast of Redwood City Council meetings will be on channel 27 instead of 26. Again, this is for Comcast subscribers only; those viewers who subscribe to RCN cable television can continue to find Redwood City Council meetings on channel 26. Up until now, local Redwood City programming was "‘shared" on Comcast channel 26 with Peninsula-TV, which runs a variety of programming and switches over to the local Redwood City broadcast for Council meetings. With this change in channel assignment, local Redwood City programming will no longer be "shared" with Peninsula-TV, but instead will have the capacity for full time broadcast on Comcast channel 27. Peninsula-TV will continue to be available on Comcast channel 26 in Redwood City. In addition to its Council meetings, Redwood City has plans for broadcast of local content during specified hours on its "new" channel 27. This broadcast is expected to start later in September, and initially have limited hours. In the future, more content will be added so that Redwood City cable television viewers will have access to a greater variety of broadcast information.
