Redwood City PAL and D.A.R.E. Programs Present "Family Fun Day" Fundraiser With the San Jose Giants Baseball Team at San Jose Municipal Stadium

Redwood City, CA - June 2, 2003 - It's time to start planning those fun summertime activities, and here's one that the entire family will enjoy: get a discounted ticket to a San Jose Giants baseball game at San Jose Municipal Stadium, and support the Redwood City Police Activities League (PAL) and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs at the same time. This special fundraising event takes place on Friday, June 27, and is only $5 per person (a $7 value). Each ticket purchased is a $5 tax-deductible donation to Redwood City PAL and D.A.R.E.

Families will enjoy a beautiful sun- and fun-filled day at San Jose Municipal Stadium, and experience professional baseball up-close in a relaxed, festive atmosphere. It's not too early to make plans for this fun day, that will have the added benefit of helping kids in Redwood City. The special fundraising discounted tickets are available by calling one of the contacts noted above.

The Redwood City Police Activities League is a nonprofit community-based organization providing intervention, prevention, and alternative programs to at-risk and economically challenged youth in Redwood City. PAL influences thousands of children and teen lives in positive ways each year. Redwood City PAL is regularly serving over 3,500 youth per year, thanks to the great volunteers who give of their time and energy.

Redwood City's D.A.R.E. program utilizes a nationally-recognized drug awareness and prevention curriculum, and is taught to all 5th grade students in Redwood City, in both public and private schools. The 17-week program is taught by a police officer in the classroom, and currently serves approximately 1,000 students in 16 schools.
