Redwood City, CA - August 28, 2003 - On Saturday, September 13th the Veterans Memorial Senior Center will host their 2nd Annual Redwood City Health and Wellness Fair, from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. The Senior Center is located at 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City.
With over 60 booths, information tables, and activities, this free Fair promises to be an exciting, informative, and very useful event for the people of Redwood City, both young and old alike. The information booths will feature a variety of health professionals and health-related services, including chiropractors, massage therapists, blood pressure testing, hearing screening, home care agencies, Hospice of Redwood City, and others. A healthy and tasty lunch will be offered at a very affordable price. This year's event is even bigger than last year, with more music, martial arts, dance, and exercise demonstrations, prize drawing, and more.
The event's keynote speaker is Merrylen Sacks, M.A., Director of Adult/Senior Services at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto. Ms. Sacks will speak about fitness and maintaining a healthy spirit and healthy body, for those both under and over 50. This presentation, along with the many booths, healthy foods, door prizes, fitness class demonstrations, dental information, and much more makes this a 'must go-to' event for anyone interested in learning more about health and wellness. The Veterans Memorial Senior Center offers a variety of programs and services, including innovative and creative classes, dinner dances, lectures provided by local historians, great food, information and referral, health and fitness classes that focus on wellness for free or at a very low cost. The Center is operated by the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, which provides recreational facilities and activities for all ages and interests, and supplies building and custodial services for City buildings. Redwood City Parks operates the Fair Oaks Community Center, providing social, educational, and cultural activities, as well as information, referral, and counseling services to persons living in Redwood City and neighboring communities.
