Redwood City Seeks Energetic, Creative Applicants for Appointment to Boards, Commissions, Committees
Redwood City, CA - June 1 , 2005 - The City of Redwood City announces great opportunities for any adult resident interested in helping to build a great community! Applications are now available to fill vacancies on several of the City’s appointed boards, commissions, and committees and members of the community are invited to offer their interest, experience, and enthusiasm for the benefit of their City.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 24, 2005.
These appointed advisory bodies are an important and valued part of our City government, where public involvement is actively encouraged and supported. Members of these boards, commissions, and committees represent Redwood City’s diverse community and bring new ideas to the City Council and staff, helping them to make the best, most informed decisions possible for the benefit of everyone living and working in Redwood City.
Here are the boards, commissions, and committees for which the City is currently seeking applicants:
- Architectural Review Committee
(one vacancy, term expires May 31, 2006)
- Home Improvement Loan Committee
(one vacancy, term expires May 31, 2007)
- Library Board
(one vacancy, term expires June 30, 2007)
- Board of Port Commissioners
(one vacancy, term expires July 31, 2007)
- Civic Cultural Commission
(one vacancy, term expires May 31, 2008)
“Serving on one of the City’s commissions is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in some of our community’s most important issues,” said Jeff Ira, Mayor of Redwood City. “We really need people with an interest in working on these community issues, who bring their unique perspectives and experience as we seek new, creative solutions, especially during these tough budget times.”
Each appointee will serve the remainder of the unexpired term for their particular appointment. Further information and applications are available by calling the City Clerk’s office at 650-780-7220, on the City Boards and Commissions web page, or by visiting the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City. Applicants’ basic requirements are that they have an interest in civic and community improvement, are 18 years of age or older, are a United States citizen, and are a resident of incorporated Redwood City. The deadline for submitting applications is June 24, 2005.
