sent overseas.
The purpose of the Yellow Ribbon Redwood City drive is to
provide support and comfort to our deployed U.S. military
service members serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict
regions, by sending care packages. "Yellow Ribbon Redwood
City" is a community-based committee with volunteers
who have come together to offer support to local deployed
servicemen and women and their families. We involve the whole
spectrum of our community in this effort, including our seniors
and our young people.
Also this month, YWRWC is challenging the businesses and
residents of Redwood City to put up yellow ribbons to show
support for our troops, much like the yellow ribbon proudly
displayed on the Redwood tree in front of City Hall. This
City-wide challenge will run parallel with a nationwide campaign,
"Operation Support Our Troops.US," from July 4,
2005 through August 4, 2005. No matter one's personal stand
on the war in Iraq, YRRWC encourages the community to support
America's sons and daughters in the military. More information
can be found on the YRRWC website at www.yellowribbonrwc.com.
Members of the community that know of a person from the Redwood
City area who is deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan and who may
be interested in accepting some support from our community
