Redwood City Public Library Offers New Ebooks and a Storytime in Hindi for the start of the New Year!
Redwood City, CA - January 19, 2006 - This month, the Redwood City Public Library is reminding patrons that they can download popular titles to smart phones, PDAs, and computers through a state-of-the-art online digital library. By simply using their library card, book lovers have immediate access to hundreds of eBooks and Audiobook titles. The online collection is available through the library’s website at www.rcpl.info – click on “Go To Online Materials” and then select E-Books - and offers digital versions of best sellers, book club favorites, award winning authors, and hundreds of other titles – and this great service is available free!
Many of the audiobooks being made available through NetLibrary come from the popular book recording company, Recorded Books. Their extensive catalog contains many current and classic books for adults and children. “This is a tremendous add-on service”, said Library Director David Genesy. “There are countless new titles and no waiting list!”
The portable digital format of eBooks and Audiobooks offers numerous advantages for business travelers, students, or anyone on-the-go. It 's also a valuable tool for those learning to read, and gives the visually impaired even greater access to materials. Users also love the convenience of not having to physically return items - when the loan period is over the file expires and the materials are automatically checked back in.
This month also marks the beginning of a new kind of Storytime at the Library - one in Hindi. Children ages one to four years are invited to participate in a Hindi storytime on Thursdays at 11:30 am at the Downtown Library. Most of the activities and stories are in Hindi, with some segments in English.
