Final Week of Events for The Big Read – Including Family Festival in Courthouse Square
Redwood City, CA - March 26 , 2007 -
Redwood City and Montalvo Arts Center offer another schedule full of fun, interesting, and thought-provoking activities during The Big Read! The great final celebration event is a family festival in Courthouse Square, from noon to 4 pm on Saturday March 31.
All events are FREE and open to the public. Here are The Big Read events for the week of March 26:
- Wednesday, March 28, 7 pm, Downtown Library ( 1044 Middlefield Road)
FREE MOVIE – “Fahrenheit 451” – see the movie adaptation of Bradbury’s classic sci-fi novel, free!
- Wednesday March 28, noon, Schaberg Branch Library ( 2140 Euclid Avenue)
DROP-IN BOOK DISCUSSION – Join other interested book-lovers for a drop-in discussion of Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, and other related topics.
- Thursday, March 29, noon, Downtown Library ( 1044 Middlefield Road)
DROP-IN BOOK DISCUSSION – Join other interested book-lovers for a drop-in discussion of Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, and the many topics that this classic book inspires.
- Friday, March 30, 7 pm, City Hall Council Chambers ( 1017 Middlefield Road)
MEET THE AUTHOR: Sam Weller – Join a conversation with Ray Bradbury’s biographer, the author of “The Bradbury Chronicles: the Life of Ray Bradbury”

FAIR ON THE SQUARE Family Festival! - Bring the family and join friends, neighbors, and the rest of the community for a fun family festival in Courthouse Square, in celebration of The Big Read, 2007. Arts & Crafts ~ Sponge Bob Bounce House ~ Fun Games ~ Story Telling ~ Live Music ~ Swing Dancing ~ Prize Drawings ~ and a whole lot more – join together for food and fun for the entire family!
- Saturday, March 31, 6:30 pm, Cañada College Theater ( 4200 Farm Hill Blvd.)
FREE MOVIE: “Shut Up and Sing” – This movie chronicles the trajectory of The Dixie Chicks lives and careers, from national-anthem-singing darlings of country music, to rebels who dared to speak out against a president at the height of his popularity.
The Big Read offers the classic book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, available in English and Spanish, through City libraries, community centers, book stores, and other locations. The community is invited to read the book and join in community events throughout March. The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Montalvo Arts Center.
