Community Invited to Join in Honoring Former Redwood City Police Chief Carlos Bolanos

Redwood City, CA - January 16 , 2007 - In his 12 years as Redwood City’s police chief, Carlos Bolanos diligently served Redwood City to ensure the community’s safety and well-being. Earlier this month, he left his position as police chief to become undersheriff of San Mateo County. The community is invited to join the City Council of Redwood City in honoring Carlos Bolanos at a reception on Monday, January 22, 2007, at 6:15 pm in the lobby of City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road. Following the reception, at its regular meeting beginning at 7 pm the City Council will formally recognize undersheriff Bolanos for his exemplary career as Redwood City police chief.

Carlos Bolanos’ work in Redwood City has left a legacy of dedication to the community, characterized by outstanding professionalism and a track record of enduring accomplishments. His range of efforts went far beyond the call of duty, to include several terms as Assistant City Manager and a nine-month role as Interim Fire Chief, strong leadership in the Redwood City Citizens Police Academy and the Redwood City Police Activities League, participation in the Day of the Reader at Henry Ford Elementary School and in the Special Olympics, work as Community Advisor for the Junior League of Palo Alto & Mid-Peninsula, and his recurring role as Santa Claus for Taft School/Healthy Start Holiday Event.

At the reception, light refreshments will be served as the City Council and the community offer their congratulations to former chief Bolanos on his new position with the County, and thank him for his 12 years of exemplary work for Redwood City. At 7 pm the regular Council meeting begins, during which a special proclamation will be presented to Undersheriff Bolanos.
