January Brings Many Veterans Memorial Senior Center Activities!

Redwood City, CA -  December 20, 2007 - The New Year is almost here, and with January comes a great number of events, activities, and services at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center! The Senior Center is located at 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, and will be closed from Monday, December 31st through January 4th for the holidays. But starting on January 7th, 2008, it’s time to fill up the calendar:

Monday, January 7thTax Appointments Being Taken. The Senior Center will take appointments for tax preparation at 650-780-7343. Appointments will be on Wednesdays from February – April.

Thursday, January 10th - Registration for Computer Classes - 9:30– 11 am & 7 -8 pm. This is an opportunity to get help signing up for, and learn about, computer education classes. Registration is also register by mail, online, and fax.

Thursday, January 10th - Senior Affairs Commission Meeting – 1 pm. The Senior Affairs Commission works to encourage, foster, facilitate, establish, and maintain programs for the enhancement of all matters relating to the social, economic, and personal well being of the City’s senior population. Special guests often invited for presentations.

Saturday, January 12thToast to the Town Dance – 1 - 3 pm. 2008 starts off with an afternoon of music with the Bob Saul Orchestra. Appetizers, champagne and New Years cake will be served. For tickets, leave a message at (650) 780-7264 by Wednesday, January 9 th. Tickets also available at the door. $10.00 per person.

Wednesday, January 16th - Finding Optimal Health at Every Age – 1 – 2 pm. This FREE informative lecture and discussion provides information on foods that give nutrition, changing unhelpful habits, degenerative diseases, and more. More information is available by calling 650-780-7320.

Redwood City Parks , Recreation and Community Services Department provides recreational facilities and activities for all ages and interests, and supplies building and custodial services for City buildings. Redwood City Parks also operates the Veterans Memorial Senior Center and the Fair Oaks Community Center, providing social, educational, and cultural activities, as well as information, referral, and counseling services to persons living in Redwood City and neighboring communities.
