Get On Board & Enjoy the Second Saturday Art Walk in Redwood City!

Redwood City , CA – July 7th, 2008 - What better way to spend an evening in Redwood City than visiting some of our fine art galleries? It’s so easy and fun with the Second Saturday Art Walk, and there’s even a free “cable car” shuttle people can use to easily get from one gallery area to the other, as they celebrate art and music in the best-weather city in the Bay Area.

The next Second Saturday Art Walk in Redwood City is on Saturday, July 12th 2008. The Second Saturday Art Walk is a multicultural, socially responsible, and eco-friendly event that brings a fabulous array of art to the community, featuring over 75 local artists bringing inspiration, culture, and entertainment this spring and summer to the entire Peninsula. This great event takes place every second Saturday of the month from April through September, starting at 7 pm.

For those who will be driving downtown, the Art Walk experience begins by parking at the Caltrain parking lot, on Perry Street near Broadway (free parking after 6pm). Art lovers can stroll down the first block of Broadway, visiting Gallery 2611 located at 2611 Broadway. View fabulous sculptures and watercolors by artist Andrew Gurthet, and paintings by artist Carol Aust and Allan Friedlander. There is something for everyone at Gallery 2611!

Then, just two doors down are Art on Broadway and the Redwood City Art Center, both located at 2625 Broadway and both featuring an incredible collection of work by local artists. On the same block, it’s then a short walk to bazaarbrazil, 2662 Broadway, where visitors can see wonderful artistic gifts that keep on giving, celebrating people and the planet, and hear the stories behind the beautiful fair trade merchandise that is featured.

After these galleries, visitors are invited to hop on the Second Saturday Art Walk “Cable Car” for a quick and fun ride to Phantom Gallery, located in two buildings at 2115 & 2125 Broadway. Next, another short cable car ride brings art lovers to Main Gallery located at 1018 Main Street. This historic house is not only the home of Alana’s Cafe, but also serves as a unique gallery for many local artists. After visiting the gallery, the cable car will take visitors back to Broadway where it started. The cable car will be continuously shuttling art lovers among these areas from 7 pm until 9 pm.

Come and enjoy an evening of arts, entertainment, refreshments and a unique ride from gallery to gallery on the Art Walk cable car. More information is available at www.redwoodcityartwalk.com or by calling 650-364-2611. The Second Saturday Art Walk is sponsored by the Redwood City Redevelopment Agency.
