Entire Community Invited to Join Exciting Special Events in Downtown Redwood City - Cultural Dance and Music, Target “Family Days,” Concerts, Movies, Plays, Dancing, and More!

Redwood City, CA - June 19, 2008 - Summer is almost “officially” here, and Redwood City is offering an exciting array of fabulous events – all happening in Downtown Redwood City, including free outdoor Cultural Events. Featured THIS SATURDAY June 21st from 6 – 8 pm in Courthouse Square is the Kusun Dance Ensemble, directly out of Ghana in West Africa.

The Kusun Dance Ensemble (www.kusunensemble.com) is an extraordinary group of musicians and dancers based in Ghana, which includes past members of The National Ballet and The Pan African Orchestra.  Although rooted in traditional music, the group has developed a new brand of music and dance featuring innovative rhythms and dances highlighted by bass and lead guitar, electrifying jazz and African rhythms, and traditional Ghanaian instruments. They have been dazzling audiences in Ghana and around the world, and now they’re right here in Redwood City!

  • July 20 - Haale - Psychedelic Sufi Trance Rock;
  • August 17 - Massenkoff - Russian Folk Festival;
  • September 27 - 17 Hippies - Whirling, bobbing, Balkan music from Eastern Europe.

And, Redwood City and Target Stores are proud to present Target Family Days, a series of FREE themed family activities in Downtown Redwood City from noon to 4 pm.
