Community Members Encouraged to Apply for Variety of Redwood City Boards, Commissions, & Committees – 12 Appointment Opportunities Available!

Redwood City, CA - January 29, 2009 - The City of Redwood City is seeking applicants for appointment to a variety of its boards, commissions, and committees. This is a wonderful opportunity for interested City residents to become directly involved in participating in City government and serving the community. Members of the community are invited to bring their interest, experience, and enthusiasm and apply for appointment to one of these boards:

• Architectural Review Committee
• Historic Resources Advisory Committee (Appointed by the Planning Commission)
• Home Improvement Loan Committee
• Library Board
• Planning Commission

These appointed bodies are an important and valued part of our City government, where public involvement is actively encouraged and supported. Members of these boards, commissions, and committees represent Redwood City’s diverse community and bring new ideas to the City Council and staff, helping them to make the best, most informed decisions possible for the benefit of everyone living and working in Redwood City.

“Serving on a City board is a great way to show your Redwood City pride, and join us in working together to seek new, creative ideas and solutions,” said Rosanne Foust, Mayor of Redwood City. “This is a great opportunity for interested people to take the next step, and get directly involved in some of our most important issues.”

General requirements are that applicants have an interest in civic and community improvement, are a resident of incorporated Redwood City, and are eligible to vote (some board or commission positions may have additional requirements or preferred areas of expertise).The deadline for submitting applications is 5 pm, Friday, February 27th, 2009.
