Community Invited to Enjoy BOOKSTOCK - a Family Celebration of Books, Music, and Fun in Redwood City
Redwood City, CA - August 17, 2009 - For the last five years, the Redwood City Public Library has celebrated “Bookstock,” its own 21st century version of the famous Woodstock Music and Arts festival. This year is Woodstock’s 40th anniversary, and the Redwood City Library is marking the occasion with “Bookstock 5” - three hours of peace, music, crafts, books, food, and free family fun!
- Saturday, August 29th
1 to 4 pm
On the lawn next to the Downtown Library
1044 Middlefield Road, Redwood City
A kid-friendly rock band, the Raytones, will be performing their lively mix of blues, rock, and good time music written specifically with kids in mind, joined by their dancing fool mascot Ray the Rhino.
Other fun activities include face-painting, a Friends of the Library book sale, hot dog vendors, and more. There’ll be a drawing for free prizes including iPods, gift certificates to Toys-R-Us and Kepler’s Bookstore, and other great stuff. Winners of the Summer Reading Club, Listening Club, and Parents Club drawings will be announced at the event, and a separate drawing will be held just for those attending that day.
And of course kids, parents, and grandparents can get a free library card if they don’t already have one, and take advantage of the library’s wonderful collection of books, CDs, videos, DVDs and other materials.
The entire community is invited to bring their sun-block, boogie shoes, and sunglasses for a fun afternoon at Bookstock 5. More information is available at 650-780-7017, or on the library’s website at www.redwoodcity.org/library.
