Redwood City Planning Commission Considering Recommendation to Council on City’s New General Plan and EIR
Redwood City, CA - August 31, 2010 - Over the last several years, Redwood City has gathered a remarkable amount of community input, comment, and opinion on the New General Plan through a series of public workshops, Planning Commission sessions, and City Council meetings. Now, staff has completed both the New General Plan and its Environmental Impact Report (EIR), and the Planning Commission is ready to consider a final recommendation to the City Council.
The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 , at City Hall beginning at 7 pm, to consider recommending to the City Council that the Final Environmental Impact Report be certified, and that the New General Plan be approved. The Planning Commission’s recommendations are expected to come before the City Council in October.
Many members of the Redwood City community have been involved with the development of Redwood City's New General Plan - as the blueprint and vision for the future of our community, it’s important that the Plan reflect the community’s values and guiding principles, as it outlines the critical elements for the long-term physical development, quality of life, and public safety of the community.
The community has been a crucial part of shaping this Plan that will guide our community’s progress for years to come. Today, interested members of the community are invited to participate in this near-final step in the General Plan process, and join the discussion as the Planning Commission considers its recommendations.
