Involved, Engaged, Informed Community Members Invited
to Apply for Seat on Architectural Advisory Committee
Redwood City, CA - October 9, 2012 - The City of Redwood City is offering a great opportunity to serve the community: one seat is available on the City’s Architectural Advisory Committee, expiring May 31, 2016. Members of the Architectural Advisory Committee are required to be licensed architects or landscape architects, residing or working in the City of Redwood City or its sphere of influence (as described in the City’s General Plan). Qualified community members with a strong desire and willingness to work diligently on behalf of the community are encouraged to apply.
The application deadline is 5 pm, Monday, November 12, 2012. Applications are available online at www.redwoodcity.org/clerks, or may be requested by calling 650-780-7220.
Appointment to the Architectural Advisory Committee will be made by the Planning Commission (which is appointed by the City Council). Applicants meeting the professional qualifications will be invited for oral interviews.
Serving on a Redwood City advisory committee is an important way to offer new perspectives and ideas, and contribute to the City’s discussions and decisions on a variety of substantial matters. Members of these committees serve an essential function in helping to manage the significant issues our community faces - and being appointed requires a commitment to carrying out the responsibilities of serving. Applicants’ ability to build consensus, their willingness to offer thoughtful, productive recommendations, and their motivation to be prepared, informed, and engaged in their committee’s work are all critical factors contributing to being appointed.
Typical basic requirements are that applicants must have a strong interest in civic involvement, must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants for the Architectural Advisory Committee must be licensed architects or landscape architects.
