2-Alarm Fire at Sims Metal, Port of Redwood City

Fire Under Control, but Fire Fighters Still Working to Fully Extinguish

Redwood City, Calif. - The Redwood City Fire Department has brought a 2-alarm fire at Sims Metal - a metal recycling facility located at 699 Seaport Boulevard in Redwood City -- under control but are still working to fully extinguish the fire. There are no known injuries or fatalities at this time. 
An air quality alert/advisory has been issued. Residents living in south San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, and south Alameda County should remain indoors. Environmental health departments such as San Mateo County Environmental Health are on scene.  
Seaport Boulevard will be closed indefinitely.
