City and Rotary Club Announce that Tuesday Evening Farmers Market will Not be Restarted for at Least Two Seasons
Redwood City, CA - Last year, the Rotary Club of Redwood City started a Downtown farmers market on Tuesday evenings, coinciding with the City's "Dancing on the Square" event. The farmers market was located on two streets adjacent to Courthouse Square. This year, with multiple Downtown construction projects underway, and related parking, traffic, and street closure issues, the City and the Rotary met to explore an alternate location for the market so that it could start its season in May.
Unfortunately, upon review of the options it was determined that none of them met the needs of both the City and the Rotary, and together the decision was made to discontinue the Tuesday evening Rotary farmers market.
"The City is grateful for its partnership with the Rotary, and we appreciate all the good work and community service that this organization provides," said Bob Bell, City Manager of Redwood City. "I look forward to working together with them again in the future on other projects and programs for the benefit of the people of Redwood City."
Lilia Ledezma, president of the Rotary Club of Redwood City, said, "We want to thank the community for its support of last season's Rotary Farmers Market, and thank the City for its cooperation. While we were not able to identify a suitable new location and deeply regret not being able to continue with our Rotary Farmers Market, we truly appreciate the City's perspective in the need for an alternate site, and we'll continue to support Downtown Redwood City and the community."
