Redwood City's First Silicon Valley Ball "Takes Over" Downtown Redwood City on Saturday, December 14th

City of Redwood City, Fox Theater, and the San Mateo County History Museum team up to host the largest holiday party in the Peninsula's history

Redwood City, CA - The Silicon Valley Ball - anticipated to be the largest "party" in the history of our area - is taking place on Saturday, December 14, 2013, starting at 6pm, and will spread across four downtown venues - Fox Theatre, Club Fox, Courthouse Square, and the San Mateo County History Museum.  The County History Museum will be transformed into a full scale 1920's casino, while headliner comedians perform at the Fox Theatre, people dance to DJ Dinero in Courthouse Square, and attendees enjoy multiple live music bands at Club Fox.

This event -the first of its kind on the Peninsula - is an extension of an ongoing partnership between the San Mateo County History Museum, Fox Theatre, Club Fox, and the City of Redwood City, to make downtown Redwood City the premier city for entertainment in Silicon Valley.  This partnership hosts community events and high profile entertainment in Redwood City's Theatre District year round.  The Silicon Valley Ball will exemplify the high level of entertainment found in downtown Redwood City year round, and ticket sales beyond the cost of this production will support arts and entertainment in downtown Redwood City.

"To put on an event of this magnitude is no small feat," says Bob Bell, City Manager. "It requires dedication, a lot of work and commitment, and our downtown is worth it. Once people come to Redwood City and see all that we have to offer, they will keep coming back."

The event highlight is the comedic line up at the Fox Theater. Whitney Cummings, co-creator of CBS's 2 Broke Girls, headlines, followed by stand-up comedian and past Saturday Night Live star Jay Mohr, and opening act, Natasha Leggero, seen regularly on the Tonight Show and Comedy Central will be the night's highlight entertainment. The San Mateo County History Museum will be converted into a roaring 20's themed casino, complete with Craps, Roulette, Blackjack Tables, Texas Hold'em, Money Wheel, and a Tournament Style Poker Room. "Champion" card players in three categories will earn prizes such as flat screen TV, a three night stay at the Four Seasons Silicon Valley Hotel, and an Apple iPad. If comedy and casinos are not enticing, attendees can dance to music played by DJ Dinero in Courthouse Square, and live music in Fox Theater before and after the comedy show and throughout the evening until midnight in Club Fox.

"Undoubtedly, this will be the biggest party the Peninsula has ever seen," exclaims Eric Lochtefeld, CEO and Founder of Fox Theater. "You are not going to find a theater like either of the Fox venues, a courthouse square as beautiful as the one in downtown RWC, and a majestic history museum set up as a full casino anywhere else than Redwood City."

Tickets range depending on package from $100 for a general admission ticket to $250 for a "VIP Diamond" ticket which includes guaranteed seating in the first five rows for live music and comedy acts in the Fox Theater along with open bar and free valet parking. There are also "corporate group" tickets available for only $75. Please note that the "VIP tickets" priced at $125 are currently sold out.

The City of Redwood City, Fox Theater, and the San Mateo County History Museum want to thank our generous sponsors: Rocket Fuel, San Mateo Credit Union, Four Seasons Hotel, Redwood City Chamber of Commerce, Porsche, and the popular Wag Hotel for dogs and cats.
