National Night Out

Redwood City, CA -- The Redwood City Police Department and Target will be hosting the 2013 National Night Out Celebration - America's Night Out Against Crime tonight, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6pm - 8 pm at Courthouse Square, Downtown Redwood City.

National Night Out is America's Night Out Against Crime - a unique nationwide crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. It's designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Family activities include music, activities, information and giveaways (from 6pm - 8pm), FREE fingerprinting for children, neighborhood watch materials, disaster preparedness information, Redwood City Police Activities League (PAL) information, a bike raffle (thanks to sponsor Target), photo opportunities with Crime Fighting Dog McGruff (attendees to bring camera!), and emergency vehicle display.

"This event helps Redwood City send the message that as a community, we are invested in strong and safe neighborhoods" states Chief Gamez. "We hope everyone attends this family event that not only provides fun activities, but also information of how we can strengthen our City against crime."

The City of Redwood City wants to thank the generous support of Redwood City's Target.
