Veterans Memorial Senior Center (VMSC) Information

We welcome everyone to join us and discover Redwood City’s best kept secret… Veterans Memorial Senior Center!

The Veterans Memorial Senior Center is dedicated to the health and wellness of older adults by enhancing body, mind and spirit. Our commitment is to create quality programs in partnership with older adults in order to maintain active healthy lifestyles and preserve quality of life. At the Center, you may enjoy a variety of programs and utilize the many different services that are available.

Senior Services: Knowledgeable and compassioned staff provide a variety of information and resources in the areas of health & wellness, housing, legal, financial, caregiving needs, transportation and in home services.

Nutrition Program: The chef and the kitchen staff serve nutritious homemade meals Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 12 noon for a very reasonable fee of $5.00. People come from all over the Peninsula to dine in our friendly atmosphere or to take food home. Additionally, we have a frozen food program for people who need meals on a more frequent schedule.

Special events: Throughout the year, a variety of gatherings are planned for socializing and fundraising purposes. Professional local artists and musicians collaborate with the center staff to offer wonderful quality events filled with pleasure and surprises for our community members.

Classes: People will find classes and programs that satisfy very diverse interests and tastes. Individuals may choose from an assortment of classes that are interactive, educational, recreational and focused on a variety of topics such as: computers, nutrition, health, fitness, art, music, and dancing.

Arbor Gift Shop: You won’t leave empty handed when shopping at the Arbor. There is a great collection of handcrafted items and quality merchandise including beautiful baby blankets, afghans and toys. Lovely cabinets are filled with crystal, jewelry and pretty gift items. Finally, don’t forget there are wonderful greeting cards for all occasions.

Volunteer Program: The center is an excellent example of a volunteer model. Over 400 volunteers work with staff to offer all of these exciting and positive programs, classes and events.

Facility Rentals/Meeting Rooms: The senior center facility has several rooms at affordable rates for small or large meeting and social gatherings. Catering services are available.

Come and have a tour led by our dedicated volunteers. There is no membership fee at the center; many classes are free or at a very affordable fee. We are not able to list all the programs and classes available for our patrons, but we are positive that you will find something that you will enjoy doing.
