2nd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

911 Memorial Stair Climb Redwood City

2nd Annual Memorial Stair Climb
Saturday, September 10, 2011
Oracle, 300 Oracle Parkway, Redwood City

On Saturday, September 10th, 2011, a special memorial and remembrance will take place at Oracle in Redwood City, hosted by the Redwood City Fire Department. This 2nd annual special event is intended as not only a memorial for the 343 members of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) who lost their lives on that day, but also as a recognition and remembrance for the family and friends left behind.

Last year, nearly 250 firefighters from throughout the Bay Area participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, and even more are expected to attend this year. And, to recognize other public safety members and first responders who lost their lives or friends on 9/11, invited participants this year include police officers, sheriff’s deputies, medics/EMTs, and other responders. During this memorial stair climb, participants will carry the names of fallen FDNY firefighters with them as they enter an Oracle building and climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs – the number of floors in the World Trade Center. Ticket Information Coming Soon!
The Zoppé Family Circus IS BACK and welcomes guests into the intimate 500 seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Italian tradition. Starring Nino the clown, the circus is propelled by a central story (as opposed to individual acts) that feature acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning and plenty of audience participation. Giovanni Zoppé, the sixth-generation circus performer who plays Nino, says the show aims higher than what passes for circuses these days. "We try to touch every emotion during the show," he says. "They'll laugh, they'll cry, and they'll feel for the characters. It's more of an event than a show."

Presents: “2012 – the Musical!”

Wednesday, September 14, 2011
7:00pm (6:30pm Music only)
Courthouse Square
A small political theater company - Theater BAM! - finds itself at a crossroads: should they keep telling the stories they feel can change the world (and starve while telling them), or feed at the corporate trough, and be a mouthpiece for The Man? Tough decision! But before having to make it, they are offered an artistic commission that may save the company; all they have to do is create a new play, "2012 - The Musical!" But is it political? Is it in line with the company's mission? What's the true purpose of this ridiculous production, and who's really bankrolling the thing? Find out the answers to these questions and more in this lively, skewering satire of corporate funding and the art of mass distraction. Click for more...
