Human Services

The Fair Oaks Community Center is a multi-service facility offering a variety of services to the broader Redwood City Community. Services are offered by a combination of City staff and representatives from public and private non-profit agencies. Although hours vary by particular program, the general service hours are:

Alanon (Spanish Speaking)
Meets Tues and Thurs 7:00-9:00 pm

R.C.S.D. Opportunity School
A self-contained academic program offering core curriculum and personal counseling to at risk middle school students. Call 780-7538.

S.M.C.O.E. Community School Central
A program for students who can benefit from an alternative school setting. Community School Central serves students referred by probation or the Sequoia Union High School District. Call 599-1610 for more information.

Community Education Center
A bilingual, multi-cultural pre-school. Call 780-7515.

CORA
Provides counseling and advocacy on domestic violence. For more info call (650) 312-8515 or (800) 300-1080.

Fair Oaks Senior Center
Exercise classes, watercolor, sewing, health screening, computer classes, lunch program, information and referral for seniors, and ESL and citizenship classes. Call 780-7525.

Family Services Agency of San Mateo/ Counseling Program
Provides bilingual counseling services to children and their families. Call 403-4300 ext. 4905 for more information.

H.I.P. Housing / Homesharing

Information and Referral
Information on human services available in San Mateo County for residents of Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. Monday through Friday. Call 780-7500 for exact hours and more information.

International Institute
Offers legalization, immigration and naturalization assistance. No appointment necessary on Mondays only, 9:00am-12pm and 1pm-4pm, on a first come, first served basis. For more information call 780-7530.

El Concilio of San Mateo County/ Nuestro Canto de Salud
The mission of Nuestro Canto De Salud is to build a coalition which embraces the spirit and culture of the people to identify health issues and make informed decisions in culturally sensitive ways which will improve individual, family and community health. In addition to health screenings and health education, activities include exercise, dance and karate classes. Call (650) 780-7514.

Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC)
The mission of the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) is to promote positive collaboration and active engagement by residents in the communities we serve. Services include training individuals to communicate and solve problems together, facilitating group and community meetings, and public participation skill building. PCRC also assists in the resolution of conflicts with mutually acceptable agreements. PCRC recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers to provide an array of services. Redwood City Child Development Program
Child care for working parents. Fees based on family income. Child must be 1-5 years old. Call 780-7520.

San Mateo County Health Services Pre-Natal to Three Initiative
Program

For pregnant woman and families with children up to age 5. Touchpoint Parent Support Group and Parent Education Classes available at Fair Oaks Community Center. Call 1-888-840-0889 for more information.

San Mateo County Juvenile Probation
Provides counseling, advice, & orientation to concerned parents about their children. Call 363-4243.

San Mateo County Victim’s Center
For assistance to victims of violent crimes. For more info call 877-5494.

St. Vincent De Paul- Homeless Food Program
Area Conference provides food to single homeless adults. Monday-Friday 1:00pm-2:00pm.call 343-4405

Women’s Action To Gain Economic Security (WAGES)
Provides technical assistance and general information and support to low-income women seeking to establish or work in least toxic housecleaning cooperatives. For more information call 780-7527
