Cargill's hunger grants top $100K
Daily Journal, 1/14/10
Cargill, the company hoping to develop the Saltworks site in Redwood City, announced Wednesday its holiday food grants effort for 2009 pushed hunger relief donations to more than $115,000 in San Mateo and Alameda counties.
In Redwood City, efforts were funded for Fair Oaks Community Center, St. Francis Center, St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room, Salvation Army, Second Harvest Food Bank and Shelter Network.
About half the funds were spent to purchase fresh food while the remainder went to improve food service infrastructure. A new kitchen was funded for the Salvation Army in Redwood City and Cargill joined with other benefactors to buy an emergency generator for St. Anthony’s.
