Concerned Community Members Speak Out About Saltworks in TV Interview
Marisuita, Redwood City Patch, 3/25/12
Last week four women who have been deeply concerned about the negative effects the Redwood City Saltworks would have on our Bay and our quality of life had an opportunity to speak our minds in an educational video. The occasion was an interview with Michael Killen, a local artist and cable TV/Internet video filmmaker.
Michael, a staunch friend of the environment, was interested in having us "share insights about the project" and its impacts. The participants were: Gail Raabe of Redwood City Neighbors United, Alice Kaufman of Committee for Green Foothills, Janet Larson of the Woodside-Atherton Garden Club, and me, representing the Sierra Club. The resulting program offers ample justification for the rising tide of opposition to the Saltworks development.
It is worth noting that Michael has had a variety of guests on his show, "Sustainability," including State Senator Joe Simitian, as well as representatives from NASA, the California Academy of Sciences, and Stanford University. We were grateful for this public forum.
The show airs on community TV in parts of san Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. We hope Redwood City residents will take the time to watch it here on Youtube:
