Saltworks Ad-Hoc Committee to Release Full Recommendations Today
The ad-hoc committee has been working with staff to create a report addressing the entire Saltworks project from its first application in 2006 to the present.

For those waiting with baited breath about the future of the Cargill Saltworks project, today is the day when the council’s ad-hoc Saltworks committee will release definitive recommendations, according to committee member and Councilmember Jeff Ira.

Before every city council meeting, city staff releases the agenda and subsequent material on the city's website. The committee will discuss its recommendations at the May 7 meeting rather than the May 21 meeting due to the pressing community interest, according to city spokesman Malcolm Smith.

After Councilmember Rosanne Foust suggested an advisory vote on the project that other councilmembers seemed to support, Mayor Alicia Aguirre requested that councilmembers Jeff Ira and Barbara Pierce form an ad-hoc committee to work with staff on further actions regarding the project. These recommendations anticipate a new or revised project description and will address the advisory vote.

City Council meetings begin at 7 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road.
