  1. 1594 James Avenue (Jo Ann Maderia Gann):

An application for a Variance to allow for a single story addition on the south street-side yard and west rear yard setbacks to an existing single-family dwelling.  The addition would allow for construction in the street side yard fifteen foot (15’) setback reducing the setback to ten feet eight inches (10’-8”).  Additionally, the addition would also encroach into the rear yard setback reducing the setback to six feet (6’) were twenty feet (20’) is required.   Per section 43.1 of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance; the Zoning Administrator has the power to grant Variances for yard requirements.  The parcel is approximately 5,830 square feet with street side frontage on three sides of the property.  The subject property is located in the Single-Family Residential (R-1) Zoning District.

  1. 1183 Hudson Street (Luis Barbosa):

An application for a Variance to remove an existing twenty-three foot six inch wide by nineteen foot deep (23’-6”x19’) 2 car carport projecting into the Hetch Hechy right-of-way.  The reconstruction would allow for the construction of a twenty-two foot wide by nineteen foot five inch deep (22’x19’-5”) attached two car garage.  The attached two car garage would be located six feet into the rear setback to avoid construction on the Hetch Hechy right-of-way. Per section 43.1 of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance; the Zoning Administrator has the power to grant Variances for yard requirements.  The site is approximately 100 feet wide and 110 feet deep with the Hetch Hechy right-of-way passing through the parcel diagonally.  The subject property is located in the Residential Duplex (R-2) Zoning District.

  1. 1500 Woodside Road (Tait & Associates for Wachovia Bank):

An application for a Use Permit, Architectural Permit and Sign Permit to allow for the addition of an outdoor ATM at Wachovia Bank.  The subject property is approximately 20,000 square feet and is located at the northwesterly corner of Woodside Road and Massachusetts Avenue in the Commercial General (CG) Zoning District.  The scope of work includes:  1) the addition of an outdoor ATM in the same location where an ATM was formerly located for the previous financial institution (World Savings Bank); 2) the addition of a detached canopy above the ATM to provide for limited overhead cover and lighting; and 3) new signage affixed to the ATM.  Per section 42.3 of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, the Zoning Administrator may grant a Use Permit only if he or she finds that the establishment, maintenance, or operation of the use applied for would not, under the circumstances of the particular case, be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort, or general welfare of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of such proposed use or would not be detrimental or injurious to property or improvements in the neighborhood or to the general welfare of the City.
