Application for a Use Permit, pursuant to Article 33.16.a.7 of the Zoning Ordinance, to allow exceeding the 2,000 square foot limit imposed on residences with non-conforming parking requirements. The maximum net living area of the residence will not exceed 2,200 square feet, nor will it contain more than three bedrooms. The lot is approximately 6,500 square feet and is located in the Single-Family Residential “R-1” Zoning District.

- 3908 Bret Harte Drive (Shinnyo-en):
Application for a Temporary Use Permit to allow a one-day event at the Shinnyo-en temple. This one-time temple dedication ceremony will take place on Shinnyo-en’s 26-acre property on Sunday, May 18, 2008. The organization expects 2,500-3,000 people to attend this ceremony. Shinnyo-en has hired a professional production company to coordinate this event. The Shinnyo-en facility contains 207 total parking spaces, of which 183 will be available. In addition, 750 parking spaces will be available on the Canada College Campus and 250 spaces on the Woodside High School Campus, from which people will be shuttled via several 24-foot long minibuses. Volunteers and private security officers will assist with traffic control and security. The applicant is also requesting assistance for traffic control from the Redwood City Police Department. The applicant has indicated that all emergency access will be maintained and temporary directional signage will be installed. Moreover, several tents will be erected throughout the property for various uses (please refer to project description and site plan for additional information). The site consists of 26 acres and is located within the Residential Hillside (RH) Zoning District.
